Politics Is Not Ultimate Reality

Mark 14:62 “I am,” said Jesus. “And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.”

‭‭Mark‬ ‭14‬:‭62‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Jesus was asked a point-blank question. Jesus gave a point-blank answer. To you, who is Jesus? Is he guilty of blasphemy? Or, is he the Son of God?

This is still a pertinent question because theologians amateur and otherwise frequently declare that Jesus never said he was God’s Son. They apparently do not read the source material.

Jesus’ confession led to his condemnation, his death sentence, and the possibility of your salvation and mine. Dirty Harry famously declared, “A man’s got to know his limitations.” Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection truly declare that we need to know, understand, and apply the reality of who Jesus is and what he did for us.

This is a good thought on the day after Election Day, isn’t it?

Here’s another good thought: Politics is not Ultimate Reality.

I will live a Jesus-shaped life instead of a politics-shaped life.

Our Father, thank you for being Ultimate Reality. Thank you for salvation. Thank you for truly being above it all. Thank you for being deeply engaged in every heart and mind as you woo everyone to yourself. Amen.
